WHAT DOES THE SELLER(S) NEED TO DO?
- ALL OWNERS MUST SIGN WHERE INDICATED ON THE FORM.
- VERIFY IS ALL LOANS HAVE BEEN RELEASED. LIEN RELEASE LETTER MAY BE REQUIRED
- VERIFY CURRENT MILEAGE UNLESS VEHICLE IS OVER 10 YEARS OLD.
- PROVIDE BILL OF SALE TO BUYER FOR PROTECTION OF BOTH PARTIES. BILL OF SALE REQUIRED ON SALES OVER $15,000.
WHAT DOES THE BUYER(S) NEED TO DO?
- VERIFY VIN NUMBER ON TITLE MATCHES VIN NUMBER ON THE VEHICLE.
- VERIFY CURRENT MILEAGE UNLESS VEHICLE IS OVER 10 YEARS OLD.
- BRING THE PROPERLY ENDORSED TITLE TO OUR OFFICE. YOU WILL NEED A VALID ILLINOIS DRIVER'S LICENSE OR STATE ID, 3 CHECKS OF WHICH WE MAKE OUT ONE TO THE IL SECRETARY OF STATE, ONE TO THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE AND THE LAST FOR OUR SERVICE FEE (WHICH CAN BE PAID IN CASH IS YOU PREFER).
- THE PROCESS TAKES ABOUT 15 MINUTES AND YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO LEAVE OUR OFFICE WITH A VALID TEMPORARY PLATE AND REGISTRATION.

What to do when you are in an automobile accident
Move to safe location
If it's safe to do so, move your vehicle to the side of the road or a nearby parking lot to avoid obstructing traffic.
check for injuries
Check yourself and your passengers for any injuries. If anyone is injured, call 911 immediately.
exchange information
Exchange information with the other driver(s) involved in the accident, including their name, phone number, and insurance information. If there were any witnesses, collect their information as well.
Document the scene
Take photos of the damage to both vehicles and plates and the surrounding area. This can be helpful when filing an insurance claim.
File a police report
Call the police to report the accident. Depending on the location and severity of the accident, they may or may not come to the scene.
Notify your insurance company
Contact your insurance company to report the accident and provide them with the information you collected.
